TAOF (The art of fusion) and Kate Stone will be playing on May 19th at 8:00 pm in the Kulti- Hall (Kulturfabrik) in Wetzikon, Switzerland. This is a special opportunity not only to enjoy the beatiful swiss alps but to enjoy fusion handpan music as well. For those of you who still haven’t heard something about TAOF, let me introduce them to you:
TAOF is a musician collective from Frankfurt am Main / Germany characterized by a sound crafted by a unique melting of different music styles, always bringing up an energetic performance that takes the audience on a journey through the realms of music, dreams and dance.
Apparent contradictions are playfully resolved in the eclectic sound of the band around the singer and handpan player Rafael Sotomayor. The handpans evoke moments of inner contemplation and weightlessness, accompanied by Tomek Witiak’s spherical e-guitar sound; The dialogue condenses and is complemented by Volker Kehl’s drumming, which, together with Robin Schwarzfeld at the Synthbass / Moog, unites the audience with the earth, the beat and the joy of dancing. Lorenzo Dolce’s saxophone playing acts as a median between the cosmic and the earthly; sometimes soloistically leading, sometimes rhythmically supporting, he orchestrates the navigation between Jazz, Funk, Soul, Pop, Electronica, Drum & Bass and Reggae together with the band and under the guidance of Rafael’s Vocals / Lyrics.
For all of you handpan enthusiasts, Kate will be giving handpan workshops on the 19th and 20th of May at 2 pm. The workshop also includes a buying option buy the numbers of available instruments are limited!
