Handpan Training Cards

Would you like to practice on your handpan in peace at home, or do you need inspiration? Then we have something for you: The Handpan Training Cards and the Opsilon Beginner Tutorials Online.

The handpan learning cards help you discover and learn the chords of your handpan in a playful way. The educational game created by Sven Kirchhofer is available in various handpan versions, including the layout of a D Kurd 10 or a F#2 Nordlys 17.

The game variants:

Flashcard System: Use the cards like flashcards to learn your chords. Repeat the chords until you’ve mastered them confidently.
Random Chord Progressions: Draw cards randomly and form them into a chord progression. Play this chord progression on your handpan and practice free playing.
Learning through play: Let your creativity run wild and invent your game variations. This is how you get to know your handpan in a playful and motivating way.

This means you can use the flashcards repeatedly, be it as a daily routine or for creative exercise. There are currently some scales as a map, but not all of them yet. If you have a wish, please let us know; we will be happy to contact Sven.

There is also a physical version of the D Kurd 10, for example in our shop!

The deck corresponds to a D3 Kurd 9+1 (D Minor 10) handpan with the following notes:

D3 / A3 Bb3 C4 D4 E4 F4 G4 A4 C5

It is also suitable for a D3 Kurd 8+1 (D Minor 9) as the same chords can be formed! This means you can use the set with our classic D Minor 9.

Handpan Beginner Tutorials

Another option for learning from home is our beginner tutorials.

Discover the fascinating world of the handpan with Opsilon’s intuitive online tutorials. Under the guidance of Rafael Sotomayor, the creator of the Opsilon Handpan and an experienced player with over 20 years of practice, you will be introduced to the basics of this unique instrument.

Learning with the tutorials is easy and intuitive. Rafael’s teaching method is designed so that everyone, regardless of their musical knowledge, can learn to play the handpan with the help of the tutorials.
Comprehensive Content: Tutorials cover everything from strumming techniques to rhythms to melodies and even a full song.
The tutorials allow you to learn at your own pace. You can go through the lessons at your own pace and repeat as many times as you want or need. It’s better to do the exercises a little slower but cleanly.
